Health and Care Facilities Project
York Hospital vascular imaging unit
In May 2020, O’Neill Associates secured planning permission on behalf of Kier Construction/ York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a new flagship Vascular Imaging Unit (VIU) within a three storey (circa 3,055sqm) extension to York Teaching Hospital.
The facility will provide enhanced diagnosis and care for patients. The type of procedures carried out in the department include diagnosing problems with blood flow, procedures for patients with heart problems such as putting in stents or pacemakers, and other crucial treatments.
The plans were first put forward in 2014 and the design has been refined in response to consultation with staff, the Trust, Kier Construction and other stakeholders.
O’Neill Associates led negotiations with the Council at pre-application and application stage during 2019-2020. The Practice also prepared the design, planning and access statement and coordinated the planning application submission.
Tim Ross MRTPI made representations at York’s first virtual planning committee on behalf of the client leading to a successful outcome.
