Independent school teaching building
The campus of St Peter’s School is undergoing a programme of renewal as set out in their 2015 campus masterplan.
As part of this O’Neill Associates secured successful planning applications for several components of the masterplan, including a replacement Teaching Building for Maths and Modern Foreign Languages with a landscaped quad.
Two separate buildings housed each of these Departments in the Senior School but demand for these subjects crystallised the need for larger and more practical provision.
Planning and listed building consent was achieved to demolish the older buildings situated within a conservation area, and replacement with a single, shared building on the same site. The attractive two storey building set on higher ground overlooks the cricket pitch and is close to houses of local residents.
Issues that were resolved included adaptation of listed buildings in the Junior School to serve as temporary teaching space, liaison with local residents on the potential impacts of construction and altered views and the impact on listed buildings within the conservation area.
Other permissions relate to a replacement boathouse, a new dining hall and the upgrade of a listed school building.
